South Boston Farmers Market
The South Boston Farmers Market operates on Mondays from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., at 446 West Broadway, June through November. The first day of the 2026 season is June 1.
Riverdale Farm brings Massachusetts-grown produce to South Boston from their 200-acre Groton farm. The farm’s hothouse operations allow market shoppers to enjoy locally grown, ripe tomatoes and bell peppers as early as June – much earlier than is typically possible in New England! And Capo Restaurant’s Executive Pastry Chef Marissa Hart will offer her delicious bread and pastries!

Executive pastry chef brings pastries, bread to market
Chocolate chip cookie croissants at the South Boston Farmers Market? Loaves of delicious bread?
Yes, please!!
The South Boston Farmers Market is growing!
Marissa Hart, the executive pastry chef at Capo Restaurant, Lincoln Tavern and Restaurant, Hunters Kitchen & Bar, and Prima, will be bringing baked goods to the market this year, which opens on Monday, June 3.
“We have a lot of these products that we make for all of the different restaurants, but we haven't really had an opportunity to have a storefront or really get them directly to the neighborhood,” she said. “We want to let the neighborhood know that we can make some of these things.”
Donna Brown, executive director of South Boston NDC, which oversees the Farmers Market, is excited to have new vendors like Marissa provide more shopping opportunities for our neighbors. “We are thrilled to have Marissa’s delicious, high-quality pastries and bread at the market.”

Dorothy’s Garden Brings Fresh-Cut Flowers to Market
Visitors to the South Boston Farmers Market this summer will find a colorful new addition among the fresh produce and baked goods: Dorothy’s Garden, a small flower farm dedicated to locally grown, organic, pesticide-free bouquets.
Charlotte Walsh found out about the market through her son, Gage, who previously lived in South Boston. He suggested she check it out.
And she is loving it!
The business itself is rooted in family history. Dorothy’s Garden is named after Charlotte’s grandmother, Dorothy, who owned greenhouses and a floral shop in Virginia.
"My grandmother owned greenhouses and had a floral shop in Charlottesville, VA," said Charlotte. "She was a mover and a shaker for the 1930s and she was making it happen, working outside the home."
Although Charlotte never met her grandmother, she believes the family's love of growing flowers has been passed down through generations.
After retiring from owning a specialty running shoe store in Norwood, Charlotte started Dorothy’s Garden five years ago, transforming what had once been a grassy side lot at her home in Islington, MA, into a productive flower farm. Inspired during the pandemic by the growing movement toward locally sourced flowers, she began cultivating blooms from seed, bulb, corm, and tuber.
Today, she grows approximately 900 square feet of flowers, carefully tending each plant herself.

About the Market
The South Boston Farmers Market is a neighborhood farmers market operating under the direction and sponsorship of the South Boston Neighborhood Development Corporation, to provide South Boston residents with access to fresh, nutritious local produce. The Market has been in operation since 2002, and was managed by the South Boston Community Health Center until the 2015 season.
The market operates Mondays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., June through November. It is located adjacent to the municipal parking lot at 446 West Broadway, a busy bus stop, and tremendous foot traffic, making it a very accessible location for market goers.
Community
With the presence of the South Boston Farmers Market the South Boston community regains a figurative “town square” and the experience of the many positive outcomes of foot traffic and a healthy, social, active public space, and an improved quality of life in South Boston. The market is a place to not only obtain healthy food but a resource for positive community information. Area nonprofits are invited to table at the market to promote their organization.
The market seeks to serve every demographic group in South Boston. Live music, special seasonal events and incentives to use the market are implemented to enhance the vibrant community atmosphere on West Broadway.
Customers using the SNAP benefit program are welcomed and given a weekly incentive to use their benefits at the market through the Healthy Incentive Program. WIC Fruit and Vegetable Checks, and Senior Coupons are also accepted at the market, and frequent shoppers who collect six stamps on Market Loyalty Cards receive a coupon.
The market is primarily run by one market manager, however we are always looking for more community members to get involved!
