South Boston has become one of the most desirable and wealthy neighborhoods in the City of Boston. Yet the need for supportive services has not decreased in South Boston. 

Since 2010:

• Median rents have increased 28%

• 1,000 more households receive SNAP benefits (food stamps)

• 102% more seniors, and 70% more children are living in poverty

Seniors and children are among our most vulnerable neighbors at-risk of being evicted or displaced from South Boston.

One of the most powerful ways we can fight displacement of our neighbors is to convert existing market-rate apartments into permanently affordable homes.
