Rental opportunity for local entrepreneur

Available for rent: the former Sweet Tooth Bakery and Event Gallery spaces.

South Boston Neighborhood Development Corporation is seeking a local business owner to open up shop in the former Sweet Tooth Bakery at 369-371 W. Broadway.

“We are looking for an enthusiastic entrepreneur to take on this exciting opportunity,” said Donna Brown, executive director of South Boston NDC, which owns the building. “The location is ideal for a small business looking to attract local customers because foot traffic is high and public transportation is available.”

This space currently includes a kitchen from the former bakery and street level commercial space. South Boston NDC is seeking a food service business only. Possibilities include a bakery, tea shop, butcher shop, or coffee/sandwich shop. The site does not have the capacity for a restaurant exhaust system.

Sweet Tooth closed its doors in late 2022. “As Sweet Tooth’s landlord since 2006, we appreciate all that the bakery has done to spread joy – and sweetness – in the neighborhood,” Brown said.

Michaela’s Market has popped up in the space since November 2022, offering craft classes and gift items created by local artisans.

“As a community development corporation, we understand how important it is to keep overhead costs low and provide the opportunity for success,” said Brown. While the space will need substantial renovation, the rent for a small local business will be at a below-market rate of $3,000 per month for the 1,300-square-foot space. It is available starting July 1, 2023.

If you're a small business owner looking for a new location to call home, contact Donna Brown at info@sbndc.org to schedule a viewing and learn more about how this space can help take your business to the next level.
