Thank you to our letter writers!
On Friday, Oct. 4, we delivered a package of letters from nearly 150 South Boston residents asking the city to prioritize the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors when considering a proposal to redevelop the former Boston Edison power plant site.
Redeveloping 776 Summer Street would clean up a toxic site, make the land usable again, and bring new jobs and amenities to South Boston.
But if the plans don't include housing, hundreds of workers that want to live close to those new jobs will put even more pressure on the housing market in South Boston.
Thanks to our letter writers, we were able to demonstrate to the city that there is clearly community support for housing that is affordable to residents of all income levels!
The Boston Planning and Development Agency announced this week that the public comment period will be extended to Nov. 4. If you haven't already submitted a comment, it's not too late – use this link to submit one.
